“Wolf of Wall Street” Ex-Wife Addresses LI Professional Women

By Mark Demetropoulos

The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women featured a talk by Dr. Nadine Macalusco - most famous for being the ex-wife of the notorious Wall Street swindler Jordan Belfour - who were both featured in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Jordan was portrayed in the movie by Leonardo DiCaprio and Nadine was played by the beautiful and talented Australian actress, Margo Robbie.

The event was held at the prestigious Muttontown Club in Oyster Bay.

Nadine’s time with Jordan was a tale of an abusive and horrible relationship.

Her story can be read in her book “Run Like Hell: A Therapist’s Guide to Recognizing, Escaping, and Healing from Trauma Bonds.”

Nadine is currently a licensed psychologist, author, former model internet personality and mother. She discussed how she left her former, now infamous husband, to a packed audience at the Muttontown Club.

At the time the movie, the Wolf of Wall Street was set to debut, she was near completion of getting or psychology license when her former husband informed her of the movie.

She stated that she was not thrilled of the movie displaying her life, however, after meeting Margo Robbie, who she thought portrayed her well, she changed her impresion.

Nadine also admitted that the movie helped her practice, because her clients can identify with her more, as she herself is a survivor of spousal abuse.

Nadine described how her former husband was a good rich provider to her as well as a nice husband – for a small portion of the time – but was vindictive and abusive - most of the time.

She was conflicted into making excuses for his bad treatment against her, and described the psychological mechanics of the “Trauma Bond” that she had with Jordan.

The Muttontown Club dinner event featured a four course meal including French Breast of Chicken in a Chardonnay Tarragon Sauce.

Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women is a networking and philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting and empowering professional women on Long Island.  The leaders of the group are sisters Rachael and Laura Doukas of Muttontown.
