Oyster Bay Bluefish Tournament / Snapper Derby Sept 15th

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Lou Imbroto are inviting all north shore anglers - young and old - to the Town’s Annual Bluefish Tournament, and - for the kids - the annual Snapper Derby.

 

Both events will be held on Sunday, September 15th in Oyster Bay at Theodore Roosevelt Park.

 

The 38th Annual Bluefish Tournament is scheduled for Sunday September 15th, between the hours of 4:30AM to 4:00PM, and is open to anglers of all ages.

 

All contestants must be pre-registered, entrance fee $40 for TOB residents and $60 for non-residents. All those registered before September 10th receive a tournament t-shirt and are automatically entered for various door prizes. All contestants will automatically be entered for other prize drawings.

 

The post-tournament tailgate party will take place on the beach at Theodore Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay.

 

 

The Snapper Derby takes place from 7:30AM to 3:00PM at Theodore Roosevelt Park - by the fishing pier.

 

“This fun family event is open to youngsters ages 14 and under, with fun prizes and awards for winners, as well as giveaways for all participants,” said Supervisor Saladino.

 

There is a $10 registration entry for residents and $15 for non-residents. Participants are invited to bring their own equipment, including poles and bait, as supplies are limited.

 

There will be two age groups: 7 and under; and 8-14. Winners will be based on the number of snappers caught – catch and release only – with prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place for each age group.

 

In-Person Registration for the Bluefish Tournament or Snapper Derbyis offered at Causeway Bait & Tackle in Wantagh, Hi-Hook Bait & Tackle in Huntington, and Duffy’s Bait & Tackle in Glenwood Landing.
