Nick LaLota GOP Nominee for First CD

Nick LaLota, 43, a former Suffolk County Board of Elections commissioner and a former trustee in the Village of Amityville, is the Republican candidate for the First NY Congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-Shirley). Zeldin, who is leaving Congress after eight years, is the Republican nominee for governor.

LaLota has the support of the leaderships of both the Republican Party and the Conservative Party.

“I pledge to respect Americans’ freedoms, understand the impact of national security decisions and have the courage to slash federal spending that is causing inflation,” stated LaLota.

LaLota served in the U.S. Navy for eight years and most recently has been named the chief of staff for Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey (R-Lindenhurst). He was the Republican Party candidate for the New York’s 8th State Senate District in 2020.

The new, heavily Gerrymandered, First district runs from the Hamptons, through Stoney Brook, to Dix Hills and Melville, and then across the Nassau County border into Plainview and Bethpage. The District now includes parts of all 10 Suffolk towns, along with a portion of the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County.

“The partisans in Albany really did the public a disservice by chopping this district up and making it almost unrecognizable from the previous district,” added LaLota.

LaLota, grew up in Bay Shore and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Huntington, before attending the United States Naval Academy.
