New Principal for Oyster Bay High School

Oyster Bay High School has a new Principal - Melissa Argaman - the former Supervisor of Guidance and acting Principal of the school.

Argaman, was officially appointed as the new principal, by the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School Board, this month, succeeding former Principal Sharon Lasher.

As the supervisor of guidance, Argaman played a significant role in raising the graduation rate of the school by 7% in just two years. She supervised the guidance department at both the High School, and at the Middle School as well.

In addition, Argaman was a "Services for Students with Disabilities" Coordinator for the College Board; she created an alternative school for students on the brink of failing; and was the OBEN district’s National Honor Society advisor.

“I am thrilled to be given the honor of being named principal of Oyster Bay Middle/High School," stated Argaman. "With two teenage boys of my own and over 20 years of experience working with students in grades 7-12, helping to support and encourage young adults is my passion." "I am excited to use my experience to build upon the successes of Oyster Bay High School while also helping us to reach new levels," added Argaman. "By working collaboratively with teachers, students, and families, I am confident that we can provide a first-rate educational experience for all our students.” Argaman earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Oswego; a master’s degree in counseling from New York University; and a professional diploma in school district leadership from SUNY Stony Brook.
