Lee Zeldin Named by Trump to Head EPA

By Mark Demetropoulos

Former Long Island Congressman Lee Zeldin (R-NY1) has been tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to be the new Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“It is an honor to join President Trump’s Cabinet as EPA Administrator,” stated Zeldin “We will restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, and make the US the global leader of AI. We will do so while protecting access to clean air and water.”

Zeldin represented the Suffolk County towns of Smithtown, Brookhaven, Riverhead and the East End in the US Congress from 2014 to 2022.

In 2022, Zeldin was the Republican nominee for Governor of New York State, and ran a very strong race, nearly defeating the incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul (D-Buffalo).

The "Zeldin coattails" in 2022 flipped five (5) NY seats in the US Congress from Democrat to Republican, and gave the GOP a majority in the US House from 2022 to this year.
