Huntington Names Angel Cepeda to Head CDA

Angel Cepeda, a local businessman and Hispanic community leader, was appointed as the new director of the Huntington Community Development Agency (“CDA”). Cepeda was approved by a vote of 4-1 by the Huntington Town Board.

Cepeda previously served as the special assistant to Supervisor Joe Saladino in the Town of Oyster Bay. In that position, Cepeda represented the supervisor and advocated Town of Oyster Bay initiatives.

In 2015 and 2017, Cepeda ran two hard-fought campaigns for Nassau County Legislature, as the Republican nominee. Cepeda also volunteered for Councilman Sal Ferro’s (R-Commack) successful campaign in the 2021 election.

“Angel Cepeda is overqualified to run the CDA, as a business owner and consultant advising organizations on how to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency for the past two decades,” stated Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth (R-Lloyd Harbor). “Along with his private sector and government experience, Angel brings fresh ideas and insight to the CDA.”

Cepeda is well known across Long Island as a Hispanic community leader. He is the legislative liaison for Christians United for Israel and the founding member and treasurer of Voices for Truth and Humanity Inc.

The position of director of the Community Development Agency demands substantial knowledge about, and extensive experience in, economic development, affordable housing, HUD requirements, administration, and grant writing.

Cepeda replaces Leah Jefferson as the new director of the Community Development Agency.
