Glen Cove Man Sentenced in Drug Death
By Nolan Cleary
A Glen Cove man with a long “rap sheet” for guns and drugs has received a fresh federal prison sentence of 13 years.
Ira Hall - who goes by the nickname "The Streets" - plead guilty to distributing illegal drugs and weapons, while also claiming responsibility for selling opioids, in Glen Cove. Hall was charged with dealing drugs to a local victim who later died from a drug overdose.
In another incident last year, Hall was arrested dealing cocaine outside the local Taco Bell, while possessing an illegal .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver.
In 2017, Hall was charged with selling the illegal drug Fentanyl, to a 27 year old resident of Glen Cove.
"This sentence ensures that the Defendant will serve a lengthy prison term for selling dangerous drugs while carrying a firearm, and also for callously causing the fentanyl overdose death of a resident of this district," stated Jacquelyn M. Kasulis, the acting US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
“Together with our federal and local partners, we will continue to prosecute and hold accountable those who contribute to the opioid epidemic and overdose deaths in our communities."
