Suffolk Legislator Stephanie Bontempi (R-Centerport) honored three local students for outstanding community service and achievement, in a ceremony held in the Suffolk County Legislature in Hauppauge.

The prestigious "Distinguished Youth Award" encourages local youth aged 13-18 to engage in community service and personal development, while setting and achieving goals in four key areas: Volunteer Service, Personal Development, Exploration, and Physical Fitness.

The Distinguished Youth Award program was founded by the Suffolk Legislature to celebrate the dedication and hard work of young Suffolk County residents who commit to making a positive impact in their communities.

"It is truly inspiring to see our young residents take such initiative to better themselves and their communities," stated Bontempi. "These students have not only achieved their goals but have set an example for others to follow."

Over the course of a year, participants work diligently to meet their personal goals and, based on their accomplishments, earn the Distinguished Youth Award Medal.

This year, Legislator Bontempi had the pleasure of recognizing three outstanding students from Harborfields High School: Mason Benjamin, Liesel Specht, and Michael Wenz.

"I am incredibly proud to honor Mason, Liesel, and Michael for their hard work and dedication," noted Bontempi.
