By Niall Fitzgerald
Over 100 screaming fans surged out onto New York Avenue in Huntington on Sunday afternoon, celebrating the World Cup victory of Argentina over France.
Route 110 was mostly closed for half an hour as celebrants waved Argentine flags, blew horns, banged on car doors and hoods, and danced in the street.
With over 1 billion people watching the game globally, the local Argentine Steakhouse in Huntington became “ground zero” for Argentine fans looking to watch the game locally.
With the game tied 3-3, Argentina win the game on penalties. It was Argentina’s first victory in the World Cup.
