40th Annual "Oyster Fest" Coming Next Week!

It’s that time of year again. The Oyster Festival - held in Roosevelt Park in downtown Oyster Bay on the weekend of October 14th - is the East Coast's largest waterfront festival, hosting over 100,000 guests.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back the Oyster Festival as this family fun outing has been a staple in our community for nearly 40 years," stated Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Saladino.

In addition to the traditional family favorites, including live entertainment, pirate ships, ride, and of course the famous oyster shucking and eating contest (the Oyster Festival record is an astounding 480 oysters down the ‘ol pipe in two minutes and five seconds), this year we can expect some new activities too.

The Food Court itself will also be serving up some unique oyster dishes (of course!), as well as clams and other irresistible seafood dishes.

The Oyster Festival is in its 40th year and is run by The Oyster Bay Charitable Fund, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote family friendly events in the region, while at the same time promoting the beauty and natural resources of Oyster Bay.

“The annual Oyster Festival is a wonderful celebration of community and camaraderie,” said President and CEO Patrick O’Shaughnessy. “We feel a deep connection to community and to Long Island’s heritage.”

So, if you like to eat delicious local seafood while having a memorable time with your family, come on out to the annual Oyster Festival of Oyster Bay next weekend - October 14th and 15th from 9AM to 6PM.
