Luxury Cruise Line to Operate Out of Glen Cove

Submissions for proposed ferry operators for the Glen Cove ferry are still in the works, and were due by May 14th. But an interesting development has occured with luxury cruise line Northport-based Eastern Star Cruises. The company wants to use three of the boat basins at the Glen Cove ferry terminal for a year with a renewable option. The cruise line has operated in Manhattan for the past 16-years and wants to run cruises in the Long Island Sound. The line also ran commuter ferry service out of Glen Cove in the summer of 2017, when there was work on the LIRR tracks, causing many delays for commuters.

The agreement was voted on May 14th by the Glen Cove City Council and would generate about $20,000 a year for the city.
